Fairy Bower Hillside Villa
A coastal home reworked for light, flow and everyday living
Set high along the Fairy Bower coastline, this hillside villa has been transformed through a considered renovation and layered interior design approach.
The brief was simple, but specific. Create a home that feels warm, refined and highly functional. A space that supports the rhythm of family life, while still offering moments of calm and retreat.
Working within the existing footprint, the home was carefully stripped back. Elements with character were retained, while areas that felt dark or disconnected were reworked to better serve the way the family lives today.
One of the key challenges was reconnecting the darker rear of the home to the light-filled living spaces overlooking the water. This was resolved by widening existing openings, introducing full-height thresholds, lifting ceiling heights and adding skylights to draw natural light deeper into the plan.
The kitchen was repositioned to face the pool and outlook, while the original kitchen became a functional pantry and laundry. The stair was redesigned to open up the casual living zone and improve the overall flow between levels.
Materiality played a central role in shaping the atmosphere of the home. European oak flooring, honed marble and soft warm whites create a calm foundation, layered with natural textures and subtle tonal contrast. Bronze hardware and custom joinery add depth and quiet detail throughout.
The final stage brought everything together. Furniture, lighting and styling softened the architecture and gave the home its identity.
The result is a space that feels grounded, open and easy to live in. A coastal home with clarity, warmth and a sense of ease that will hold over time.
