Sophisticated luxury beside Sydney Harbour.
Involved in this project from its inception, we worked closely with the architect and clients to create a contemporary, unique and sophisticated waterfront home. With views overlooking Sydney Harbour, it was important to us that the home’s interior did not distract from the magnificence of the surroundings, and instead offered a quietly luxurious design aesthetic – high-end without being ostentatious.
The client’s brief was to create a neutral and sophisticated backdrop to showcase and set off their colourful art collection while being a comfortable environment for a family with older children.
“Using natural materials within a punchy monochrome palate, I introduced bold charcoals and bronze accents within the joinery, against the white and natural greys of the walls,” Sarah says.
“We balanced the coldness of the grey, white and charcoal elements with natural walnut veneer and solid timber woven through the home’s interior.”
By being involved in the design and build process from the planning stages, we were able to inject creative input into all aspects of the home’s interior, from the architectural design to the decoration and styling.
“The walnut veneer on some of the special joinery pieces, and the creama Leanna limestone accent benches in the kitchen and bathrooms really balance and add warmth to a mostly cool palate of charcoal timbers, white walls, blackened bronze metal accents, and the grey concrete walls,” Sarah says.
The ‘concrete’ walling product used to wrap the interior façade of the lift was a surprise element that was selected later on in the process.
“This element is one of my favourite things in the house; it adds a soft industrial feel and sets off the clients’ sculpture and the black-and-white walls and joinery. The texture and movement in the material is perfect in the space.”
The clients are overjoyed with the end result, and we are particularly proud of this uniquely luxurious project.
